TRAVEL: Thailand, Pai

After just one short night in Chiang Mai, we decided to go even further up north. We took a minivan which we booked at our hotel in Chiang Mai to Pai. The minivan was 160 baht per person, which is app. 4 euro, very cheap for a 4 hour ride. Well, it was a ride, a three hour rollercoaster ride all the way through the mountains. We were going up and down and to the left and right almost constantly, no straight road for hours! It was terrible, took way too long but when we arrived in Pai, we knew it was worth the ride!

The Hotel
We booked our little bungalow up front when we were in Chiang Mai. We decided to go for Pura Vida but we just booked 1 night upfront. It’s 4km from the citycenter of Pai and upon arrivel the owner, Noi, helped us with hiring a scooter. The scooter is 140 baht per day, which is 3,50 euro. Very cheap! Well our little bungalow is just beyond beautiful. It’s spacious, clean, has the most stunning view I’ve ever seen and our garden is sooooo pretty! They helped us with a lot of things and really give good tips for our stay in Pai. I would highly recommend you to go to Pura Vida, we had the best time and we stayed here for 3 nights in stead of 1!

The lunch
After our hell of a ride we were so hungry! We decided to take the scooter into town and stop at the first restaurant we see. It was Cafe D’tist, close to the Pai river and we had to take the european food! So hungry, sooooo good! Very tasteful and a nice place to be as well

Pai Viewing point
After our short but necessary lunch we took the scooter up on the hill, via china town to the Pai Viewing point (Yun Lai View Point). The weather was gorgeous, blue skies and no wind. The viewpoint was very beautiful, and the chinese gentlemen was kind enough to bring us some good green tea to enjoy the view even more.

The Mor Paeng waterfall
Our second stop was at the Mor Paeng waterfall, about 7km out of town. Therefore, always make sure you rent a scooter when you’re in Pai. It makes life so much easier! The waterfall was very pretty but a bit crowded. We enjoyed the cold water and walked around for a while. It is definitely a must see when you’re in Pai!
